RECRUITING VISUAL AND DIGITAL PEER CONSULTANTS (Sem 1, 2025-26)
Visual and Digital Resources (VADR) at the Centre for Applied English Studies is now recruiting high-calibre Year 2, 3, 4 and 5 undergraduate peer consultants for Semester 1 of the 2025-26 academic year. Students from all disciplines are welcome to apply. Successful candidates will have excellent visual and digital skills, and they will be enthusiastic about helping others communicate effectively. Those hired will receive training in tutoring and communication skills and be supported by professional language instructors in their work.
What do we do?
What visual and digital skills are we looking for?
We are looking for students who have expertise with some software in the each of the two areas below:
1. Video editing software E.g. CapCut, DaVinci Resolve 18, iMovie, InShot, Adobe Premier
2. Visual and Poster Design software such as PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign
How much is the pay?
Competitive compensation commensurate with qualifications will be offered.
When is the training?
Initial training will be held in late August or early September 2025; training time is counted as part of consultants’ contracted working hours.

May 22 2025 (Thu)
When would I begin working, and what are the working hours?
New consultants will start working from Sep 2025 till Nov 2025, and will work about 8 hours a week. A typical weekly work schedule includes training sessions (e.g. how to give feedback on student work, video filming, video and sound editing, assessment briefings), delivering workshops, providing assessment feedback, short administrative tasks, promotion work, and other ad hoc tasks. Consultants should be able to commit to serving for at least one semester.
Are the working hours flexible?
We will arrange workshops and training sessions to fit consultants’ schedules. Pre-consultation preparation work, consultant-development activities, and promotion work are scheduled flexibly.
