Movement and Multimedia Art Literacies

HKU undergraduate students participated in creating a movement and multimedia art installation initiated by the artist Yaya Chen, Leeman, and Moon.Noon at the Hong Kong School of Creativity. The installation explored themes of connection, entanglement, subtraction, and wellbeing. Students assisted the director, choreographer, multimedia specialist, videographer and other professionals in setting up and recording the performance. They learned about installing art, backstage support, lighting, production, and filming. Afterwards, students collaboratively produced a final film sharing their interpretations and reflecting on their learning experiences. The hands-on experience in transdisciplinary artistic collaboration developed students’ visual and digital literacies.

The film as a triptych was screened at the 24 Frames: A Students’ Short Film Show at Tai Kwun Laundry Steps on 23 May 2023.
