WHAT WE DO?

As information becomes increasingly accessible, knowledge economy workers are increasingly distinguished not simply by what information they know, but how well they can generate, synthesize, and communicate information. We therefore seek to specifically advance HKU students’ skills in these increasingly important arenas, to ensure than an increasing fraction of our graduates possess the range of communication competences associated with prestige universities of the (near-)future. This project aims to address this goal by developing a set of courses that, alongside pre-existing substantive content, will better provide our students with the core communicative competencies needed for creative, economic and social success on campus and in the workforce.

The four core communicative competencies targeted are:

Writing
Speaking
Visual Competence
Technological literacy
