Description: This session gives an overview of the Communication-intensive course initiative at HKU. A CiC-badged course is where communication knowledge, skills, and attributes are taught alongside course content; it has communication-related course learning outcomes, assessments, and learning activities. The first half of the session will show participants how to convert an existing undergraduate course into a communication-intensive course and prepare a CiC application. The second half is for participants to ask course-specific and/or programme-specific questions.

Description: This hands-on workshop provides teachers with an opportunity to learn how to convert an existing undergraduate course into a communication-intensive course. A communication-intensive course is a course where communication knowledge, skills, and attributes are taught alongside course content; it has communication-related course learning outcomes and communication-rich assessments and learning activities. This workshop will be 1 hour but there will be an option extra 30 minutes to discuss your course with the presenters.

Assessorize! Embedding Communication Criteria in Assessment Rubrics

Date: Wed, 20 October 2021

Description: This hands-on workshop helps teachers to design effective rubrics which assess communication criteria alongside content knowledge for a particular discipline. In the activities the participants will evaluate a range of different rubrics and learn how write rubrics so that the communication components are clear, transparent, and motivating for the students.
